Senior Counsel, Commercial The candidate will draft and negotiate legal documents and contracts in support of all aspects of the business, with particular focus on direct and indirect procurement and supply chain issues; sale and distribution matters; and legal support of the commercial and contractual needs of the National Accounts Team, and Operations, Finance, Marketing, HR and IT functions. Oversee development or improvement of contract templates, alternate provisions and playbooks for commercial contracts. Provide leadership and oversight to the contracts management team, led by contracts attorney. Provide training on legal and compliance topics to company personnel. Offer clear and effective counsel on a variety of legal issues, including advising on commercial risks and potential legal liabilities and risk mitigation. Work collaboratively and effectively with Americas Legal Department colleagues and alongside other departments within the company. Anticipate, research and communicate regarding legal issues that could impact the company. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

The candidate should have a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school and admission to the bar of the State of Minnesota. Should have 7-10 years of experience handling commercial and corporate transactions, including M&A. Have a combination of law firm and in-house experience. Additional experience in corporate governance and compliance is a plus, as is experience with manufacturing and/or construction. Strong negotiation skills with both legal and financial/commercial/operational issues. Strong drafting skills and attention to detail. Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with others at all levels inside and outside the company. Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships within the Daikin Americas Legal Department and with business partners. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Active admission to the bar in the State of Minnesota.
