Legal Secretary Duties : Performs secretarial duties for the City Prosecutor's Office. May on occasion perform work at City Hall. Answer phones, screen calls, answer some citizen inquires, direct calls to appropriate attorneys and take messages. Type all complaints for the Prosecutors and prepare all files for trial. Type all motions, emergency protective orders, letters to Attorney's set for plea docket. Set appointments for complaints filed by the public. Knowledge of traffic laws and various Class C Misdemeanors. Communicate with Officers on trial dates, input their schedule for vacations and schools. Performs related duties as required. Keep calendar of court dates, pleas, hearings and meetings. Prepare subpoena's for trial.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification : The candidate must have High school diploma and experience working in a legal or court related field is beneficial. Notary Public Commission required or ability to acquire same. Must have ability to effectively communicate with city council, attorneys, citizens and employees in order to provide information related to court issues. Must have exceptional public relations skills in order to facilitate daily dealings with attorneys, as well as the general public. Skill in the operation and maintenance of a number of office machines and equipment such as computers, fax machines and copiers, ten-key, personal computer, telephone system is required. Must be able to type 25 wpm.
