Paralegal Ii â€“ Litigation Support Paralegal The candidate assists the staff attorneys in the Domestic Unit who have primary responsibility for assisting survivors of domestic violence with child custody cases, paternity actions, and actions for dissolution of marriage. Acts as a legal assistant to these attorneys, and the job duties of this position include drafting documents; gathering information and records from third parties; conducting client interviews and assisting clients with their responses to discovery. Client interviews; drafting pleadings, motions and discovery; assist in gathering information relevant to the clientâ€™s case; assist in preparing discovery; communicate with court staff and shelter advocates; perform outreach duties as assigned; assist attorneys in file maintenance; and perform other duties as assigned. Fluency in Spanish is a plus. Must have a Bachelorâ€™s degree, associateâ€™s degree or certificate program in paralegal studies; knowledge of legal terminology and legal communication principles and practices; familiar with family law helpful; general competency in using a computer and working in Word and Excel.
