Troy office of our client seeks senior family law attorney/lawyer with 5+ years of litigation experience. The candidate will be under the direct supervision of an assigned Senior Associate Attorney on their Team, or Regional Team Leader, except if working with a Partner or Managing Partner on a case as the Partners or Managing Partners so designate. Will perform legal work under the supervision and guidance of the Senior Attorney, Regional Team Leader or Partners. Prepares and drafts legal documents for filing with appropriate entities and necessary correspondence. Drafts pleadings and motions, including judgments and orders. Corresponds with attorneys, court personnel, and clients regarding cases. Interviews witnesses for court cases and prepares witnesses to testify. Shall ensure the accuracy of all documents prepared. Shall promptly appear in court on all days assigned to associate attorney by the Senior Attorney, Regional Team Leader, Partners or Managing Partners of the Firm. Shall handle all aspects of cases assigned to them; however, shall still seek guidance and be supervised by the Senior Attorney, Regional Team Leader or Partner. Performs administrative duties including basic research, filing, mailings, organizes files and pleading panels, telephone communication. Conducts legal research for particular issues as assigned by attorneys using periodicals, law library, public records, and offices. Takes accurate messages when individuals are not available, receives deliveries by courier or messenger, and receives and sends faxes. Shall ensure that all documents received by this office from the court or otherwise are promptly copied to the client. Shall promptly appear in potential client meetings for initial consultations as directed. Promptly provides to the Director of Administration, Finance Director or Managing Partners all payments received via the safe for each office. Return all client phone calls left before 5:00 p.m. the same day. Enter all billable hours completed on a given day into the designated. Timekeeping or billings software the same day. Ensures that when there are multiple cases in which they can work, that cases in which a client has money in the Firm's trust account is given preference. Reminds all clients to maintain trust balances at appropriate level and pay outstanding balances. Sends each client on their case-list a letter informing them of the status of their case on the first full week of each month and confirmation letters after being assigned a case. Shall assist with potential client calls and entail client consultations as directed. Shall complete and follow the case checklist in working up cases. Shall maintain a team player and non-entitlement mentality. Performs any other reasonable task requested by the Firm Management Team, Senior Attorney, Regional Team Leader, Partner or Managing Partners. Reports directly to the assigned Senior Attorney, Regional Team Leader or Partner or in any other manner the Managing Partners so designate. Missouri license is required. A dual license is a plus.
