Profile

Administrative Manager
The candidate will provide day to day leadership and supervision of Seattle office professional staff including all administrative matters such as ensuring appropriate coverage and workload coordination, time sheet approval, overtime monitoring, attendance and Personal Time Off (PTO) oversight. Develops and maintains strong working relationships with Practice Department Chairs, Practice Team Leads and attorneys to ensure business needs are addressed and to coordinate workload assignments and internal customer alignments. Develops and implements staffing plans and leads all recruiting and on boarding efforts for professional staff. Manages employee performance throughout the year and drives the performance review process including soliciting feedback on staff performance from business partners and attorneys. Collaborates in setting salaries and bonus levels appropriate to performance, budget and the market. Proactively addresses conflicts between parties and develops solutions to any identified problems or areas of concern. Partners with HR on performance management, employee relations, leave management (including Family Medical Leave and bonding leave), and has a strong working knowledge of benefits, policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance. Provides project management and oversight for special assignments and projects such as software migrations and training programs.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree. Must have 3+ years of lead or supervisory experience including performance assessment and management. Experience in team building, conflict resolution and managing transition is required. Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) is must. Experience handling confidential information is required. Experience working in the legal industry is preferred. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills are required. Strong oral and written communication skills are plus. Must have ability to successfully partner with all levels of the organization. Should have ability to use independent judgment. Must have ability to operate at the highest level of professionalism, integrity and confidentiality. Should have ability to perform a variety of tasks, often changing assignments on short notice. Must have ability to manage a complex and varied workload in a timely manner and with courtesy and tact. Should have ability to develop, direct and implement projects.

If this firm were to beef up the salary and add a few perks this might suddenly become the best firm in the region.

Pros : The people and work environment at this firm are both very good. Everyone is pretty laid back and easy to get along with, and the support staff is incredibly good at what they do.
Cons : The salary and benefits are rather low compared to what other firms in this area are offering. The work environment helps to make up for this pitfall, however.
