Indianapolis office of our client seeks an associate attorney with 3- 5 years of experience with USCIS family-based, USCIS victim/humanitarian-based, and removal defense immigration case law. The candidate will be responsible for the supervision of the USCIS Family-Based and USCIS Victim/Humanitarian-Based dockets at the firm; responsible for direct supervision of the Case Managers for the firm?s USCIS teams. Assist Case Managers with paralegal management and case tracking for the firm?s USCIS dockets. Set and track goals with Case Manager(s) for the firm?s USCIS teams. Responsible for overseeing, reviewing, and completing casework involving immigration applications, petitions, and waivers specifically related to the firm?s USCIS docket. Represent clients at interviews at the USCIS and Asylum office. Meet regularly and communicate effectively with clients for appointments as needed, including consultations, interview preps, current client appointments, and follow-up client appointments. Obtain appropriate case-related materials, including case files from prior counsel, materials from court clerks, court reporters, police departments, prosecutors, and other sources as needed for casework. Compose legal documents, such as complex briefs, appeals, and motions. Conduct effective legal research. Handle litigation, including hearings and trials on behalf of clients. Appear in immigration court representing clients in removal proceedings, primarily at the Chicago Immigration Court. Please note that this position will primarily work with the USCIS docket and will only attend hearings if no other firm attorneys are available. Travel will be required to the Indianapolis USCIS office, local Indiana courts, the Chicago Immigration Court, and other government agencies as needed/as required for interviews and hearings. Must be a licensed attorney in good standing to apply. Fluent in Spanish (reading, writing, speaking) strongly preferred.
