Immigration Attorney DUTIES: Assists with the intake process and provides telephonic and in-person interviews and consultations to prospective clients; Manages high-volume case load concerning various immigration matters including asylum, special immigrant juvenile status, family-based petitions and visas, non-immigrant visa processing, TPS, NACARA, adjustment of status, naturalization, naturalization, hardship waivers, Cancellation of Removal, U- and T-Visas, and other motions and legal memoranda as needed. Provide representation in custody and guardianship proceedings in Maryland Circuit Court, through a Maryland license or admission under Rule 15 within 6 months. Provides representation in CIS interviews before the Baltimore District Office and the Asylum Office in Arlington, VA; Performs legal research on AILA publications, the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), Title 8 of Code of Federal Regulations (8 CFR), and other related primary and secondary sources of immigration law and regulations. Assists with community outreach and education, and group presentations and workshops; Represents the agency to a variety of organizations and at community and professional functions and meetings. Accountable for raising money for the program through the collection of fees and fundraising. Assists with program communications and reports by tracking case statistics and outcomes and sharing success stories. Performs case-related administrative duties, including maintaining accurate, complete and confidential case files Assures that program services and policies and procedures are consistent with program and Agency philosophy.

Qualification and Experience

REQUIREMENTS: JD Degree Required. Bilingual - Spanish speaking mandatory. License to practice Law in at least one state or D.C. 1-2 years related experience. Law degree from an accredited law school. Licensed to practice law in the state of Maryland. Knowledge of immigration law. Excellent communication, analytic, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to set priorities and exercise good judgment. Ability to work with clients from diverse cultures. Fluent in English and Spanish Required. Ability to work independently, under pressure and meet deadlines. Experience in serving culturally diverse clientele helpful. A driver’s license with no more than 3 points is required. Ability to move throughout the building and climbing stairs. Position requires intermittent sitting, standing and bending. Excellent communication, analytic, leadership, and interpersonal skills. Ability to set priorities and exercise good judgment. Ability to work with clients from diverse cultures. Ability to work independently, under pressure and meet deadlines. Experience in serving culturally diverse clientele helpful.
