Associate General Counsel II Operations, Investigations And Privacy / Cybersecurity The candidate will be responsible for: Provides support for internal investigations and regulatory matters through research, interviews and coordination with the company's Compliance Department. Participates in company's administrative appeals of Medicare reimbursement denials by monitoring and providing advice to company and hospital management regarding Medicare reimbursement and coverage activities. Participates in administrative law judge hearings related to administrative appeals of Medicare reimbursement denials. Organizes and participates in educational seminars and workshops related to administrative appeals of Medicare reimbursement denials. Provides advice to company and hospital management regarding operational and contract issues. Provides support for HIPAA Privacy and Security matters and cybersecurity matters by participating on the Incident Response Team, participating in the annual Incident Response Tabletop Exercise, editing contracts as they relate to privacy and security issues, and coordinating with the company's Compliance Department and ITG. Provides support regarding corporate governance issues. Provides advice to company's Patient Safety Organization regarding operational, statutory, and regulatory issues. Consults with senior management and the company's Legal Department on managing general and business litigation. Provides analysis and counsel on legal and policy issues, as needed. Anticipates and guards against legal risks facing the company. Conducts and coordinates research into a variety of legal issues. Writes, reviews, and edits reports, opinions, correspondence, articles and other documents. Maintains and improves legal skills and knowledge through coursework, periodicals and other sources. Networks with co-workers to share best practices. Understands different departments and their role in the corporate office. Develops strategies and aligns work to achieve goals. Completes special projects and other duties as requested to support needs of organization. Organizes, plans, and manages time effectively to complete assignments. Meets position requirements and performs essential functions. Completes mandatory training and courses required by completion date. Reports questionable situations, concerns, complaints or harassment immediately. Must have License to practice law in the State of Alabama. Must have Juris Doctor Degree. Should have 5+ years of relevant legal experience at a reputable law firm or in-house and/or combination of legal and internal operational experience. Experience working with healthcare providers preferred.
