Paralegal Duties: Provide support to attorneys and legal professionals on asbestos litigation matters. Save and print documents and add them to various spreadsheets. Add dates to calendar. Weekly email to team of next three weeks calendar and upcoming trial list. Print out calendar and trial list for meetings. Review each email & determine if it pertains to current cases. File updates. Closing files. Keep expert and witness files up to date as transcripts and reports are received. Initiate the reorganization of files for upcoming trials so they are useable including comparing interrogatories with medical records to make sure the file is complete. Attend monthly APU Asbestos meetings. Prepare, draft and submit Pro Hac Vice’s for attorney’s in all states. Prepare mailings, fed ex’s and service copies. Review and prepare deposition summaries for use in trial preparation. Draft pleadings for attorneys so they can be filed. Organizing and preparing binders of key medical records and documents to assist trial. Communicate with court reporters regarding transcripts and missing exhibits. Index large files and documents. Check court dockets and getting attorney access to them.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent thereof and/or paralegal certification and/or law firm experience preferred. 3 years' experience preferred. Prompt and good attendance required. Availability to work overtime as required. Ability to work under deadlines. Ability to adapt to changing work situations. Ability to handle stress. Ability to exercise independent judgment within broad parameters as set by attorneys and legal professionals managing the litigation. Ability to interact with attorneys, legal professionals and vendors using strong oral and written communications skills. Ability to interact with a full range of personalities. Ability to act and work both independently and in a team environment. Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities on a daily basis. Ability to understand and follow specific and detailed instructions. Maintain a professional manner and demeanor with attorneys and legal professionals.
