A law firm seeks a highly skilled mid-level Construction Attorney to join its growing practice in Phoenix, AZ. This position is ideal for an attorney with 4 to 8 years of experience in both transactional and litigation matters in the construction industry. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in managing construction-related cases, including proceedings before the Register of Contractors, and will bring excellent oral and written advocacy skills. The position offers a collaborative work environment where attorneys can contribute to a dynamic team while continuing to grow their practice.

Duties:

  • Represent clients in construction-related legal matters, including contract negotiations, disputes, and litigation
  • Handle construction defect claims, breach of contract, lien disputes, and general construction law issues
  • Manage Register of Contractor proceedings, including the preparation and defense of claims
  • Provide legal counsel to clients on construction project issues, from contract drafting to dispute resolution
  • Draft and review construction contracts, subcontracts, and other related agreements
  • Advocate for clients in court, arbitration, and other dispute resolution forums
  • Lead and manage litigation cases, including pre-trial motions, discovery, depositions, and trial preparation
  • Maintain and develop client relationships, providing exceptional legal advice and services
  • Stay current with changes in construction law and related legal developments
  • Mentor junior attorneys and assist in managing the team’s caseload

Requirements:

  • 4 to 8 years of experience in construction law, including both transactional work and litigation
  • Strong understanding of construction law, contract law, and dispute resolution
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal matters and litigate construction-related cases
  • Superior written and oral advocacy skills, with experience drafting legal documents and representing clients in hearings
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and mentor junior team members
  • Experience with Register of Contractors proceedings is highly preferred
  • Established client relationships and ties to the Phoenix area are a plus
  • Active membership in the State Bar of Arizona and in good standing

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the State Bar of Arizona

Skills:

  • Expertise in construction law, including contract negotiations and litigation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage a full caseload and work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team
  • Experience with construction industry regulations and dispute resolution methods, such as arbitration
