City Prosecutor The candidate will be providing legal representation on behalf of the City and acting as the chief prosecutor in charge of the prosecution of traffic and misdemeanor violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code, including a significant number of DUI prosecutions, and violations of the Naperville Municipal Code, mostly in DuPage County, but also in Will county and in the City's administrative hearings system, as necessary. Will be acting as the Legal Department's liaison to the Naperville Police Department and assisting and advising the police on legal matters, training, and policies; and may serve as primary counsel to the Naperville Liquor Commission and its Commissioner (the Mayor). Supervising the City's Assistant City Prosecutor and Paralegal and providing legal assistance to the Mayor, City Council and City staff on all matters relating to municipal operations. Must be creative and have excellent research, writing, communication, problem solving, leadership, and team work skills plus an ability to multi-task, work independently, and manage a heavy work load. Must have 4+ years of experience prosecuting criminal cases in Illinois required. Should have criminal jury trial experience and trial experience re: statutory summary suspensions, DUIs, and other traffic and misdemeanor violations of the Illinois Vehicle Code is required.
