Case Manager / Paralegal The candidate will make sure all clients have appointments. Will verify that the Pre Litigation Checklist for Transfer is completed at the time of file transfer. Continue medical management of client injuries. Upon treatment completion: Order Medical Records and an itemized billing statement. Complete demand package and review with the client. Scan in demand package. Verify that all updated data entry is complete and up to date (i.e. Injuries tab, Wage Loss). Update and Maintain Provider Screen. Update and Maintain Insurance Information. Order all Prior medical records for surgical cases and litigation cases. Send out Form Interrogatories Packet and review with the client. Prepare responses to Discovery and review with co-counsel. Prepare the Attorney and Client(s) for Depositions. Prepare Deposition Binders. Prepare the Attorney for Expert Meetings and Provider Meetings. Prepare the Attorney for Expert Depositions and Provider Depositions. Prepare clients for Independent Medical Examinations. Prepare Mediation Briefs. Prepare Mandatory Settlement Conference Briefs. Prepare Arbitration Briefs. Maintain Co-Counsel informed of case status at all times. Request Narrative Reports and Causation Reports for Clients who require surgery or chronic pain management. Identify cases that are Surgical candidates and soft tissue. Create Medical Summaries. Bate Stamp Medical Records. Return all phone calls within 72 hours. Negotiate settlements under the direction of the Attorney. Assist in negotiating to reduce liens/medical bills under the direction of the Attorney. Assist in the preparation of Settlement Distributions. Request and follow up on Final Medicare Liens. Request and follow up on Final Medical Liens. Request and follow up on Health Insurance Liens. Provide adjusters with case status. Provide Litigation Department with case status on litigated cases. Assist in the preparation of Trial. Identify and red flag any cases that need immediate attorney direction. Identify Policy Limits Cases. Identify Policy Limits Cases with the Potential of Underinsured Motorist Coverage. Respond to Deposition Notices with Production of Documents. Prepare CCP 998 Offers. Prepare the responses to Designation of Experts. Prepare Notice of Intent to Produce Documents. Review Incoming Discovery. Review all incoming Subpoenas. Review all Incoming Correspondence. Communicate all offers to the client in writing. Communicate all Litigation Events to the client verbally to avoid misunderstandings. Advise the client of the case status at all times. Prepare Howell Charts. Update Case List in the Excel Spreadsheet. Look far in advance for any future client appointments, litigation events, discovery. View and file all incoming correspondence. View all litigation mail by email.
