Paralegal The candidate will manage Trademark clearance and management of the Company’s IP portfolio. Will conduct trademark clearance searches and maintain log re same. Manage MGA’s worldwide intellectual property portfolio (trademarks, copyrights, patents), file US trademark applications and related documents, and coordinate trademark filings with outside counsel. Respond to Office Actions with the PTO, and provide foreign counsel with information, documents and strategies for responding Office Actions issued by foreign trademark offices. Coordinate requesting and analysis of full trademark search requests sent to outside counsel. Maintain electronic and hard-copy files for all intellectual property filings, and provide reports as requested. Coordinate with Licensing team re the licensing of different classes of product in various foreign jurisdictions, and maintain spreadsheet outlining future trademark filings. Review of packaging, advertising, style guides, and other materials of the Company’s trademarks and legal lines. Approve logos, product packaging, advertising, press releases, merchandising displays, style guides. Develop legal lines for application to product packaging, licensed product, advertising, press releases, merchandising displays and style guides. Manage anti-counterfeiting program. Manage worldwide anti-counterfeiting efforts to include providing foreign counsel, customs, and other authorities with trademark and copyright information; confirming the counterfeit nature of seized goods; and maintenance of spreadsheet identifying all anti-counterfeiting matters. File copyright applications. File copyright applications for product, product packaging, logos and entertainment properties; maintain records re same; and provide registration information and documents as requested. Other legal projects as needed. Conduct research on various topics and report findings as requested by the General Counsel, and/or Legal Dept. Attorneys. Review and approve invoices from foreign counsel and other vendors relative to costs associated with trademark filings, trademark disputes, anti-counterfeiting work, patent registration and maintenance, and trademark clearance work. Must preferably have 4-year college degree. Paralegal Certification is needed. Should have 5+ years experience as a successful intellectual property paralegal with licensing, trademark, and copyright experience. Experience utilizing CPI or other patent and trademark database is needed. Experience using Thomson Reuters products to include the SAEGIS database is essential. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skill is needed.
