Senior Associate County Counsel The candidate performs legal work of moderate difficulty in representing the Board of Supervisors and the County and its departments/agencies on legal issues and in litigation involving relatively clear issues of public agency and civil law. Represents one or more County departments, special boards, commissions, or other governmental bodies and advises them on legal questions regarding their powers, functions, jurisdiction, procedures and operation. Prepares or tries civil cases of various kinds involving tort liability, condemnation, elections, police powers, zoning, labor, workers' compensation, probate, special assessments, public assistance, or management of County property. Confers with attorneys, County officials and other interested parties regarding assigned cases. Prepares legal documents such as contracts, leases, opinions and briefs. Handles routine legal problems under general supervision. Admission to practice law in all courts of California is required. Must have 6 months of experience performing beginning level legal work as an Associate County Counsel for the County of Los Angeles.
