Civil Practice Paralegal Casehandler Foreclosure The candidate will develop and conduct an intensive outreach and community education program with the aim of reaching the most vulnerable homeowners, including the elderly, with information on mortgages, the foreclosure process, tax and water liens, and how to avoid scams and prevent fraud. Will identify and work with local community leaders and organizations such as block associations, religious leaders, libraries, PTAs, and local media on public information efforts. Develop community education materials and conduct trainings for clients and other advocates. Create "Know Your Rights" materials. Conduct workshops for residents in the targeted communities on foreclosure prevention and related issues. Provide advice and assistance to homeowners and provide advocacy and representation before governmental agencies such as the Department of Finance. Conduct factual and legal research. Work with other advocates and coalitions on policy reforms. Respond to client and community concerns and make appropriate referrals. Provide client services through community outreach, including during evening hours as needed. Must have Paralegal certificate from an ABA-accredited paralegal school, Bachelor's degree in relevant field, or satisfactory completion of a comprehensive in-house training course appropriate to practice area. Excellent written, oral advocacy, and computer skills required. Experience assisting people in crisis is desirable. Proficiency in languages other than English is desirable.
