Entry Level Assistant District Attorney Duties: Prepare the filing paperwork and cause formal charges to be filed. Coordinate with law enforcement officers on cases where additional evidence is needed to file charges. Assist Grand Jury attorney in presenting felony cases to the grand jury. Occasional make sentence agreements on criminal cases and recommend a bond when appropriate. Represent the State of Texas in pretrial arrangements of defendants at the city and county jail. Must be knowledgeable and comply with all ethical standards imposed on Texas attorneys. Other duties as may be assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Strong litigation and trial skills. Knowledge of the general principles of criminal case administration and methods of criminal justice practice. Skill in reviewing and interpreting complex legal issues. Skill in screening and preparing cases for filing or presentation to a grand jury. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other law enforcement agencies, and the public. Possesses strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft programs. Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. Applicant must be currently licensed in the State of Texas and be in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
