ProfileSenior Policy Manager/Counsel, EU Affairs Duties: Drive analysis of European policy proposals. As the European Commission and regulatory agencies issue policy proposals, analyze them and their impact on business. Consider the potential risk and benefits, as well as develop possible amendments and changes that would help advance our business objectives. Develop European policy strategy. Working with our local consultants for developing our strategy in Europe for engaging on those issues, including identifying which policy initiatives to follow and seek to influence, and which issues we use to build our policy brand with key stakeholders. Manage trade association engagement. Build out trade association strategy for Europe. Develop this strategy and work with our trade associations to track key developments related to EU and member state policymaking and make sure Workday provides timely responses articulating our positions. Drive trade association direction to ensure that our issues figure prominently in their policy agenda and advocacy. Drive policy-related events. Influence policy is by organizing and participating in policy-related events. From developing ideas to identifying speakers to arranging logistics, you would be at the center of the events we arrange in Brussels and elsewhere in Europe to convey our message to key audiences. Drive engagement with European policymakers. Working with local consultants, build stakeholder maps for our policy issues and coordinate our meetings and engagement with key policymakers so that we build durable, longstanding relationships with them. Disseminate information about policy developments. Make sure team is fully up to date on the latest policy and regulatory developments, so they can answer customer queries and provide guidance. Work with others on the team to inform executives, sales, teams and lawyers about European policy changes and proposals that impact business. Interact with the business. Provide examples of how proposed regulations would impact the business as well information and data to policymakers. Work with business leaders to develop these examples and respond to policymaker requests for information and insight.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Advanced degree (Ph.D., JD Degree, MPA/MPP) from accredited school and 8+ years experience. CIPP/E certification preferred. Experience in policy development and formulation and engaging and influencing regulators, legislators, and administration officials. Experience in balancing policy analysis with business goals and requirements to develop win-win solutions. Strong oral and written communication skills, from 140 character tweets to one page policy summaries to in-depth policy analyses and consultation responses. Familiarity with technology, with a focus on cloud computing, SaaS, cloud computing, enterprise software or social network environment. Strong understanding of the range of tech policy issues including privacy, security, and data localization, as well as issues important to the tech industry such as immigration and workforce development. Detail-orientation and ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure. Excellent judgment and sense of humor. Ability to deliver in a demanding and entrepreneurial environment in a timely manner.
