Attorney Editor The candidate creates editorial enhancements to help customers understand the context and developments of the administrative code. Classifies legal information in the form of headnotes and other text. Maintains up to date and accurate administrative code text by analyzing and integrating regulations and register material. Reviews content rendered as print or electronic products for completeness and accuracy. Demonstrates competence in Westlaw navigation and on-line research tools. Meets editorial publishing schedules and quality standards. Follows editorial style and standards for the department and individual jurisdictions. Verifies own work and that of other staff as required for accuracy and completeness, and ensures that the information is properly presented and organized. Maintains and develops legal knowledge and skills training as required to complete work and stay current on legal trends and developments related to the employeeâ€™s editorial responsibilities. Attends and participates in meetings as requested/required. Participates in the employee evaluation process (both wider feedback and self-evaluation). Develops knowledge of Legal publications and products related to the employee's responsibilities, and those of competitors. Understands the roles and responsibilities of each team member and how each role affects production. Demonstrates competence on company specific systems necessary to perform job functions.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have LL.B. or J.D. degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school. Should have strong legal research and analytical skills. Must have exceptional editorial judgment and attention to detail. Should have ability to interpret, analyze, organize, and communicate complex legal material. Must have understanding of editorial production process and requirements. Must be skilled in the use of personal computers and has familiarity with word processing and on-line applications. Must have ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with all contacts, both in and outside company.
