Job Details Requisition Number 18-1765 Post Date 9/26/2018 Title Assistant General Counsel, Commercial Transactions Department Legal City Honolulu State HI Part-Time No Part-Time Weekend No Description Key Responsibilities Provide Company senior management with timely, effective legal advice with respect to any issue related to commercial transactions and contracts, including without limitation aircraft and engine purchases, financing, and other significant commercial transactions which may arise Provide legal support to Company’s Strategic Procurement Department and other Company contract administrators Develop and maintain sufficient legal expertise to competently provide expert counsel in aircraft finance, finance, and commercial law. Develop legal expertise in other major areas of law and aviation regulations, domestic and international, that most commonly affect the Company Review contract provisions and language for legal sufficiency and compliance with Company legal requirements and develop and maintain standard Company contracts as appropriate and necessary Assist with management (including supervision of outside counsel) of contract drafting and negotiation Assist General Counsel and Associate General Counsel in providing all legal services required by the Company and in managing the Department Serve as the Company’s senior legal advisor whenever the General Counsel and Associate General Counsel are absent or unavailable As directed by the General Counsel, manage and review Company legal processes for efficiency and effectiveness (e.g., document retention policy, Company manual on DOT regulations) Requirements Minimum Requirements BA and JD degrees Minimum 5 years of experience in negotiating and documenting sophisticated commercial transactions Admitted to practice law in the State of Hawaii Ability to travel to locations HA system-wide and such other cities, domestic and international, as needed Strong analytical background and experience in analytically-focused roles Demonstrated ability to persuade leaders across the organization Preferred Qualification Graduate of top tier law school Experience working in the airline industry and with aviation law Strong analytical background and experience in analytically-focused roles 5 years of experience in aviation law About Hawaiian Airlines Hawaiian® has led all U.S. carriers in on-time performance for each of the past 14 years (2004-2017) as reported by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
