Legal Assistant IV The candidate will be copying, scanning, and organizing legal materials, case filings, and office documents in both paper and electronic formats. Will be scheduling meetings, depositions, reserving conference rooms, and arranging for video teleconferences. Preparing domestic travel requests for assigned attorneys. Reserving foreign language interpreters, ordering transcripts and completing forms to procure expert witnesses. Sending, filing, logging, locating, and tracking internal and external office correspondence and court files. Submitting requests for prisoners to appear at interviews and court appearances. Escorting victims and witnesses to meetings and court appearances, and assisting the Victim/Witness staff with preparing witness reimbursements and victim notifications/mailings. Preparing grand jury subpoenas, court orders, and forms using office templates, along with accompanying budget forms. Updating the CaseView docketing system with case events. Working with attorneys, paralegals, litigation support, and permanent legal assistants to prepare documents, exhibits, pleadings, and briefs relating to grand jury proceedings, court hearings, trials, and appeals, and post-conviction motions. Must have a Bachelorâ€™s degree from an accredited college or university and must have the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to perform the duties outlined in section 8.0 above. Must have the ability to perform basic functions in software applications such as Microsoft (MS) Outlook, MS Word, Adobe Acrobat, and possess basic data entry skills while working with databases and specialized office systems. Should have excellent written and oral communication skills. Should be able to communicate with Attorneys, Court personnel, the Clerkâ€™s Office, the U.S. Marshalâ€™s Service, external government agencies, and other individuals with information relevant to performing the duties outlined above. Knowledge of and experience with criminal litigation policies and procedures for the Department of Justice (DOJ) is preferred.
