Assistant Ethics Counsel The candidate prosecutes cases before the Grievance Commission of the Iowa Supreme Court. Advises the Board on interpretation of the rules of professional conduct and proposed changes to the rules, and reviews and processes other disciplinary matters before the Board (including reinstatements of law licenses after suspension or revocation). Other duties include initial review of complaints at intake, investigation of complaints, preparation of pleadings, conducting discovery, trial of cases, drafting post-hearing pleadings, and all necessary appellate litigation. Represents the Board in reciprocal discipline and other hearings and oral arguments before the Iowa Supreme Court. Involves occasional overnight travel. Must have graduation from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in the State of Iowa with a law license in good standing and no significant history of discipline. 5+ years of trial and appellate practice preferred. Must have strong oral and written communication skills, and have high-level knowledge of standard office software, including word-processing and presentation software, PDF generation programs, and commercial case-management platforms.
