Plaintiffâ€™s Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal Duties: Initial screening of new client intake calls. Preparing new client packets. Participating in the new client interviews. Helping make judgment calls and providing discretionary input into the decision of whether we will accept any new representation. Drafting initial pleadings, discovery requests and written discovery responses and responses to request for disclosures. E-filing in state and federal courts. Maintaining the files electronically and physically in a manner that can become our exhibit list, witness list, and expert witness list for trial. Communicating with your counterpart paralegal on the defense side of each case to schedule inspections, discovery responses, depositions, mediations and exchanging trial materials in pre-trial. Preparing for and attending trial. Communicating and negotiating lien reductions, and lop reductions when necessary to settle cases, preparation of settlement disbursement packages. Obtaining signatures on releases and compromise settlement agreements. Keeping clients informed of the progress and status of the cases and assisting in the communication efforts with client and the attorneys. In addition to e-filing, you must be comfortable using lexis nexis, all office programs, outlook and any law firm billing program at all, including and preferably tabs.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Paralegal Certificate. 4 years' Plaintiffâ€™s side personal injury litigation experience. should be a self-starter, be organized with great attention to detail, and be extremely effective at managing all tasks in a timely manner.
