Workers' Compensation Legal Assistant The candidate will contact all clients from the Pittsburgh office to provide them information of the scheduled hearings and mediations. Will arrange client travel logistics for hearings, medical appointments and other required sessions; schedules vocational interviews as needed. Communicates arrangements with WC team. Apprise attorneys regularly regarding client interactions and case updates. Evaluate and escalate communication as appropriate. Provide administrative support for attorneys and support cases by typing, filing, preparing correspondence, assisting with reports, preparing presentation materials, transcribing dictation and other administrative tasks. Organize and maintain client files according to firm standards. Thoroughly and accurately document client interaction and case updates via case management software. Receives, reviews and properly disposes of all correspondence on a timely basis; uses sound judgment in prioritizing the handling of all correspondence, both paper and electronic. Prepare attorney expense reimbursements. Handle telephones calls from internal and external sources including taking accurate messages and appropriately routing calls. Coordinate conference calls. Coordinate attorney firmâ€ and clientâ€related meeting setâ€ups and logistics. Coordinate all medical bill payments through various levels of insurance coverage. Contacts adjuster to check on status of late or missing check. Communicates status to client and WC team. Work with lien holders to ensure amounts attempted to be claimed are subrogable and correctly associated with claim/recovery.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have 2+ years of workers' compensation, or medical malpractice legal administrative experience. Must have knowledge of medical billing process and coordination of medical benefits. Associateâ€™s degree preferred. Proficiency in MS Office and Outlook required, knowledge of Needles or other case management system preferred. Excellent customer service as well as written and verbal communication skills is required.
