Senior Contracts Attorney
The candidate will be drafting a full range of E&P and associated service contracts ranging materially in size and scope from service agreements and leases to EPC, platform, seismic, charter party and rig contracts. This role supports the negotiation of domestic and international contracts for all of firm’s interests and provides secondary support to the new ventures group and to the E&P operations group for exploration, development and production activities. Actively engage in drafting and strategizing with firm’s domestic and international contracts team. Prepare, review and interpret routine and non-routine legal documents, contracts and agreements, including: Master services agreements, master consulting agreements, master engineering services agreements; Confidentiality agreements; Leases, easements and rights of way; Contracts covering surface use, drilling, completion, well intervention, facility and field maintenance, project transportation and installation, seismic; Joint operating agreements, project agreements, BIMCO agreements, master vessel charter agreements; Contracts address real estate, IT and other business administrative needs; Provide oil and gas, transactional advice, insight and training as appropriate; Advise management of legal risks, potential liabilities and strategic mitigations and quantify residual risk. Conduct legal research and analysis regarding a variety of topics. Assist in developing legal standards, provisions and guidelines for contracts and tools to enhance the business and create legal efficiency. Proactively train the different domestic and international business units on relevant legal areas to address lessons learned, reduce legal risks and potential liabilities. Collaborate in the implementation of the corporate risk management program.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have JD degree from an ABA accredited law school with 6+ years of relevant legal experience. Should be licensed to practice law in the United States and in good standing. Strong domestic and international E&P contracts background is required. Experience in domestic and international oil and gas service agreements, exploration and production contracts, compliance and EH&S is needed. Experience interpreting and applying statutory and regulatory law to E&P operations and contracts is must.
