Associate Wealth Strategist Advisor The candidate will be responsible for working closely with Wealth Strategists, Private Wealth Advisors (PWAs), Financial Advisors (FAs) and management in the assigned markets. The primary responsibilities of this role are to help develop wealth transfer strategies for the UHNW clients ($25mm+) of PWAs and FAs, enhancing client relationships with the firm and resulting in a) acquisition of new clients, b) expansion of existing wallet share, and c) retention of clients. Will have familiarity of Estate and Gift Taxes, Philanthropy, Trust Structures, Insurance, Income Tax Planning, and Investment Management. This includes a comprehensive understanding of Merrill Lynch’s suite of solutions, platforms, and initiatives. Assist wealth strategists in client engagements, thought leadership, and speaking events. Co-lead with Advisors and other Wealth Strategists at client meetings on a broad range of wealth transfer strategies and estate planning topics. Communicate with outside advisors such as estate planning attorneys, accountants, and family offices. Present on the topic of wealth transfer and estate planning at national, regional, and team events. In conjunction with other Wealth Strategists, develop recommendations and assist the Advisors to implement customized planning strategies for clients. Educate Advisors on wealth transfer strategies and estate planning topics. Participate in financial advisor segmentation testing. Stay current on technical developments. In conjunction with other Wealth Strategists, author whitepapers, articles, and other material on topics impacting the client segment. Serve as a technical resource on the topics of wealth transfer and estate planning. Collaborate and partner with other areas of the firm including the Center for Family Wealth DynamicsTM, trust and insurance specialists, lending, structured desk, etc.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Law degree or CPA license. Advanced degree or certification (e.g. LL.M, MST, PFS, CPWA) strongly preferred. Series 7, 63/65 or 66 required (or ability to obtain within 120 days). Must have 5 years of private practice or planning experience for UHNW families and individuals. Should have previous experience in the financial services industry. In-depth experience with computer programs (e.g. Excel, Estate Planning Tools, BNA Estate & Gift Tax Planner, WealthTec, NumbersCruncher) is needed. should have solid tax and legal research skills. Must have excellent communication and presentation skills.
