Paralegal Specialist, GS 7-9
Responsibilities: The candidate will maintain document control over important government records delivered to and retrieved from various supported commands. Research and analyze legal and technical questions from supervising attorneys and supported commands pertaining to post-trial matters. Review and analyze court decisions and other post-trial review actions to determine what action is required. Assist the Command Services Department in providing training lectures and briefings concerning post-trial matters. Traveling is required.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: GS-09: Must have 1+ year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-07) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: Reviewing records of trial (ROT) for completeness and properly preserves original ROT's. Coordinating proper service of ROT's on military and/or civilian defense counsel, and victim on victim legal counsel. Researching and analyzing legal and technical questions from supervising attorneys and supported commands pertaining to post-trial matters. Providing training lectures and briefings concerning post-trial matters. Researching and analyzing legal and technical questions pertaining to post-trial matters. Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related or Combination of experience and education as described above.

For GS-07: Must have 1+ year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-05) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: Maintaining document control over important legal government records (record of trial (ROT), pre-trial agreements, internal trial-related documents, etc.) delivered to and retrieved from various supported commands. Logging all cases into a post-trial tracker. Ensuring the proper disposal/forwarding of courts-martial related files. Monitoring cases through completion of corrective action and provide case status reports as required. Education: Must have 1 year of graduate level education or superior academic achievement or Combination of experience and education as described above.
