Assistant General Counsel - Employment and Labor Law
The candidate will be responsible for working collaboratively with the HR Director, the HR Compliance Officer, and the HR management team to provide advice and counsel with respect to firm employment, employee benefits, compensation, and labor strategies. Working with all levels of firm management and staff to address personnel-related concerns and issues that may arise, in concert with human resources. Leading efforts to represent Alliance in matters involving employment: litigation, administrative proceedings, arbitrations, mediations, investigations, and other proceedings. Coordinating, monitoring, and working with outside or employment and labor counsel as needed and in compliance with applicable rules and procedures. Contributing to employee relations strategies and means for strategy accomplishment. Participating on multi-disciplinary teams to address employment-related issues and develop strategies that accomplish the firm mission. Identifying and analyzing legal issues, drafting key documents, presenting clear recommendations, and assuring legal compliance. Researching and analyzing case law, statutes, and regulations as well as drafting appropriate legal guidance. Working with the Office of General Counsel team to provide legal support necessary to properly represent Alliance and its efforts to successfully accomplish the firm mission.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have Juris Doctor and 9+ years experience practicing law in the employment and labor field. Current member of the Colorado Bar, or eligible for admission on motion to the Colorado Bar based upon years of past experience is essential. (Admission to the Colorado Bar is required within 1 year of employment). Demonstrated experience working with administrative agencies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD) or other equivalent state agency (e.g., drafting position statements, responding to requests for information, attending administrative proceedings, etc.) is beneficial. Significant experience drafting and implementing complex settlements, contractual agreements, and employer policy documents is desired. Demonstrated advanced analytical and leadership skills are an asset. Experience performing legal research and drafting legal guidance is a plus.
