Advocating for and promoting the agriculture industry, the state’s largest industry, employer and economic contributor. Ensuring a safe food supply, protecting natural resources, promoting public health and safety, protecting animal health, and providing consumer protection to the best of our ability. Responsible for assisting the pesticide and fertilizer, food safety, animal health, and conservation programs. Preparing orders, pleadings, briefs, and other documents for the enforcement of all laws and regulations for which the agency is responsible, including administrative hearings and state court actions. Advising agency programs in carrying out their regulatory duties. Drafting administrative rules and regulations and legislation. Researching, interpreting, and applying statutes, court decisions, and other legal authority as required. Must have graduation from an accredited law school and admission to and membership in good standing with the Bar of the Supreme Court of Kansas. Knowledge of agricultural and natural resource law is required. Knowledge of administrative law, including the administrative rules and regulations adoption process in Kansas is must.
