A law firm seeks a dynamic Litigation Attorney to join its Rockville, MD, office, specializing in insurance defense litigation. This role requires a motivated trial attorney with a commitment to high-quality client service, trial strategy, and proactive case management. Ideal candidates will have experience in litigation and the ability to balance independent work with team collaboration. Flexible and "of counsel" arrangements are available.
Duties
- Analyze case outcomes based on legal precedents and formulate trial strategies
- Advise clients on claim liability, legal rights, obligations, and the benefits of pursuing or defending lawsuits
- Conduct legal research and draft correspondence, pleadings, subpoenas, motions, and discovery documents
- Engage in pre-trial discovery and prepare for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, and drafting pre-trial motions
- Manage large-scale document production, ensuring thorough organization and accessibility
- Appear in court, conduct depositions, and question witnesses as part of trial preparation
- Maintain knowledge and proficiency with MS Office, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
- Optionally participate in client development and marketing initiatives
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or related fields
- Licensure: Valid license to practice law in Maryland, with licensure in . or Virginia preferred
- Skills: Strong research, writing, and verbal communication abilities; ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Education
- Degree: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
Certifications
- Bar Admission: Active license to practice in Maryland (. or Virginia licenses are beneficial)
