LEGAL ASSISTANT Law Office of Taylor Long This position requires an adaptive personality with strong organizational skills and the ability to remain composed with a professional demeanor while communicating with clients and visitors who may not be satisfied with the time restraints on their file. The majority of the job duties include communicating with clients, staff, and the court, as well as maintaining files, mail, and attorneys’ calendars. Job duties include but are not limited to: Greet clients and visitors Answer telephone and check and respond to voicemails Respond to emails Manage Calendar; schedule appointments and mediations Mail – open, scan, review, file Make routine bank deposits Manage postage account and machine Prepare pleading forms (Motion & Order Coversheet, Form 4, Certificate of Service, etc). Scan and copy client files Open files and review intake Draft and send letters to opposing counsel, clerk of court, judges, and plan administrators Research retirement plan information Prepare initial drafts of pleadings (create caption and footer, and fill in client specific information) Maintain case task lists and routinely update status of files Communicate case status reports to clients Follow up with opposing counsel and retirement plans regarding outstanding items Manage and order office supplies as needed Other necessary tasks to support the attorneys Necessary skills and abilities: Organization and Documentation Skills Detail Oriented Office Supply Management Microsoft Office Experience – OneDrive, Word, Excel, Outlook Adobe Experience – OCR, PDF editing, PDF conversion Mac Proficiency Effective Written and Verbal Communication (especially with confrontational client or opposing counsel) Internal Communications Resourceful (Ability to problem solve without specific direction) Dependability Professionalism Client Relationships Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Compensation: Hourly wage, commensurate with experience.
