Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal Duties: Work in concert with Firm attorneys on litigation cases, as well as pre-litigation matters preparing the files for litigation. Responsibility for case management and interaction with Law Group staff members performing administrative support functions in support of staff attorneys. Will be involved with the following areas of law firm: policies and procedures, reporting, meetings compliance and strategy, case reviews, excel sheet list maintenance for settlements, maintaining administrative standards, interaction with professionals [Attorneys, Courts, Physicians, Commissions, Experts, etc. ]. Advance the legal cause of firm clientele by preparing legal documents, organizing file materials, sending correspondence, assisting in the preparation and service of settlement proposal documents, verifying medical bills, liens and other collateral source information. Perform all actions, duties and responsibilities as directed by firm principals for the proper handling of all assigned files. Actively enforce, follow and set an example for adherence to all firm policies and protocols, reporting requirements, case reviews, administrative duties, statute list and new business log responsibilities, interaction with staff and other professionals and to simultaneously advance the cause of firm clientele as well as uphold the high standards of the law firm;Meet with clients and other professionals to discuss details of case. Engage in internal meetings with firm attorneys in accord with firm protocol. Follow firm protocols and procedures in the management of assigned case loads. Prepare affidavits or other documents, such as legal correspondence, and organize and maintain documents in paper or electronic filing system. Prepare for trial by performing tasks such as organizing exhibits, contacting witnesses, summarizing depositions and medical information and performing all support activity as requested by the Group assigned attorney. Prepare legal documents, including short calendar markings, briefs, pleadings, appeals and all litigation items. File pleadings electronically. Assist in deposition preparation, pre-trial investigations, trial preparation, including assistance with preparation of witnesses for deposition andor trial. Prepare exhibits and other demonstrative evidence for use at trial.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Paralegal Certification a plus. Associateâ€™s or Bachelor's Degree in a related field a plus. 5-10 years relevant work experience. Experience in managing a personal injury caseload (i.e. motor vehicle, workers compensation, social security, premises liability and medical malpractice cases). Experience in the preparation of settlement proposals and statute responsibility. Experience as a litigation paralegal and 5+ years' significant experience in Personal Injury\Catastrophic Injury law. Abilities and Skills:Excellent verbal and written communications skills. Problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel and Word.
