Legal- Assistant General Counsel- Corporate and Investment Bank Investor Services- VP The candidate will provide legal support to firm’s Investor Services business. Will work closely with Investor Services on product development, development of legal policies and controls, implementation of new regulatory requirements, day-to-day business support, complex new business transactions, and, on occasion, support for acquisitions and divestitures affecting the business. Entails extensive, independent contact with, and support of, senior business personnel within Investor Services and significant opportunity for career development. Providing legal guidance and expertise to the Investor Services business teams including general advice and negotiation and drafting of transaction documentation and contracts. Providing legal guidance and support to other segment teams as needed. Providing legal support to the Collateral Management, Trust, Custody and Fund Servicing product teams. Working with the business and industry groups to assess and implement new regulatory requirements. Reviewing regulatory disclosures and marketing materials. Assessing legal risk, advising on such risk and reviewing policies and procedures and process changes to mitigate risk. Participating in business and functional teams and committees to provide legal expertise as needed. Participating in industry advocacy groups and legislative lobbying efforts as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have 5-7 years experience with a major law firm (or equivalent in-house experience). Must be licensed to practice law and a member in good standing in New York or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of New York. Ability to understand the business needs and partner with the business to create solutions is required. Background in providing legal services to operational intensive businesses is preferred.
