Associate Director, IP Counsel
The candidate will provide IP counseling to R&D, business development, commercial, and other business teams on patent, regulatory data exclusivity, trademark, and other intellectual property issues. Conduct patent and prior art search, competitive landscape analysis, patentability and freedom to operate analysis. Identify patentable inventions, draft patent applications, and work together with outside counsel on patent filing and prosecution matters. Build and maintain a strong intellectual property portfolio to support the Company’s R&D and commercialization efforts. Draft IP provisions of contract templates, as well as review and negotiate IP clauses in relevant **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. contracts. Support business development and research collaborations, including due diligence assessments, and advise on contract drafting and negotiation. Monitor patent trends and case law developments in major markets, and adjust IP strategies accordingly; and advocate positions important to **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. in matters concerning IP government and regulatory policy. Review draft publications and presentations. Provide litigation support, including validity and infringement analysis. Manage trademark matters. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint. Advanced degree in organic chemistry or biological science required. Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school are required. Deep understanding of global pharmaceutical patent laws, regulatory data protection laws, regulations and best practices, in the U.S., China, and Europe are required. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry and strong understanding of pharmaceutical R&D and commercialization are required. Excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills, with the ability and confidence to represent **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. in the area of patent law are required. Prior experience managing projects strongly preferred. Experience and skill at drafting patent applications and responses to patent office actions are required. A demonstrated ability to collaborate, as well as to work independently, balancing competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with a high level of professionalism are required. Highly effective communication skills (both verbal and written) are required. Juris Doctor from an accredited U.S. law school; admitted to USPTO, and at least one state Bar are required. 7 years of relevant experience in the area of pharmaceutical IP, with a focus on patent law are required.
