Assistant Attorney General The candidate will responsible for receiving, assessing and subsequently responding to requests made under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. The FOIA Officer in the Springfield office will be responsible for reviewing FOIA requests addressed to the Office of the Illinois Attorney General and working with the FOIA Officer located in the Chicago office and the appropriate division or bureau within the office to locate responsive records, review and redact responsive records, and draft an appropriate response. The FOIA Officer will respond to correspondence in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act and handle correspondence with the appropriate skill and care that ensures legal compliance. Coordinate, and in appropriate circumstances conduct, internal research to locate all paper and electronic records held by the Office of the Attorney General that relate to particular FOIA requests. Must be licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois at the time of application. Should have 3+ years of legal experience, preferably with FOIA requests.
