Corporate Counsel - Intellectual Property The candidate will be responsible for prosecution, maintenance and protection of all intellectual property claims for Allison Transmission, including patents, copy write, trademarks, trade secrets and other forms of IP. This will include coordinating outside counsel as required to ensure timely protection of intellectual property. Responsible for prosecution, maintenance and protection of all intellectual property claims for Allison Transmission, including patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets and other forms of IP. This will include coordinating outside counsel as required to ensure timely protection of intellectual property. Work collaboratively with engineering department and other stakeholders to develop and execute an IP strategy and ensure Allison's broad range of IP is properly protected. Develop and maintain processes and procedures to properly identify, document, manage and protect Allison's IP. Coordination/receipt of Records of Invention (ROI). Serve as counsel to the Patent Review Board (PRB). Organize and facilitate PRB meetings to review ROI's for patentability, prosecution issues and obtain direction on maintenance of existing patents. Conduct/coordinate patent searches to ensure that ROI's do not infringe upon existing patents. Coordinate with outside legal firms to write up patent applications and file for US patents with the US Patent and Trademark Office (PTO). Work collaboratively with aftermarket team and other stakeholders to identify and stop trademark infringements and other improper uses of firm name and trademarks. Provide IP support for various development, purchasing, and other agreements. Must have Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Should have Law degree and 5 years’ experience with prosecution, litigation and clearance background. Member of US Patent Bar is required. Excellence in written and spoken English is needed. Experience using Microsoft Windows and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project) is must. Experience coordinating multiple programs is essential. Experience with transactional IP issues is preferred.
