Government Affairs Officer The candidate will assist the Counsel for Government Affairs and Policy with managing firm’s government relations. Will implement and coordinate legislative activities, strategies and firm policy positions across the hospital. Develop, with senior executives and the Government and Public Affairs Committee, firm’s state and federal agenda, strategy, and policy positions. Coordinate outreach by firm staff with local, state and federal officials, agencies and legislative bodies. Lead strategy meetings with hospital staff, consultants and lobbyists. Reviewing state and federal regulatory and statutory changes and proposed changes and coordinating a firm position and response. Draft legislation and agency comment letters to reflect firm’s viewpoints. Crafting strategies to communicate firm’s positions on various issues and develop plans of action to ensure firm’s viewpoint is taken into consideration by various stakeholders, including, but not limited to trade groups, legislative offices, public officials, and agencies. Responsible for ensuring firm has strong, enduring bipartisan relationships with local, state and federal officials, legislative offices, and stakeholders. Serve the primary contact for government agencies, officials, legislative offices and coordinate hospital communication with such offices. Serve as the liaison, or work with my team to serve as the liaison to various trade groups, and local civic groups such as the Texas Hospital Association (THA), the Advocacy Alliance Center of Texas (AACT); the American Hospital Association (AHA), the Physician Hospitals of America (PHA) and many more. Bachelor’s degree is required. Law Degree from an Accredited University is preferred. Computer skills required with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is essential. Good written and verbal communication skillsare required.
