Counsel, Cable Entertainment Legal Affairs The candidate will draft and negotiate contracts for companyâ€™s cable television entertainment studios and networks, including production services and co-production agreements, talent agreements, development agreements, digital rights agreements, and similar documents. The position will also be responsible for production legal functions for linear and digital first content. Draft, review, negotiate and interpret contracts and other documentation. Provide timely and thoughtful legal advice on potential risks and issues, and propose practical, responsive solutions. Partner with business executives to discuss and implement best practices and formulate new processes in connection with business needs. Create and update forms. Work with the Legal Affairs team on major projects with long-term business implications. Other matters at the direction of the VP of Legal Affairs.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have J.D. and member of the California bar in good standing or eligible for registration as in-house counsel under the Rules of the Supreme Court of California and the State Bar of California. Must have 4 years of entertainment, intellectual property, privacy, defamation, and/or other relevant subject matter expertise. Experience with copyright and fair use analysis is preferred. Experience with unscripted programming is desired. Outstanding academic credentials (excellent academic record at top tier law school) is preferred. Outstanding analytic, communication and organizational skills are desired. Must have demonstrated ability, in a positive and practical manner, to proactively identify, prioritize and resolve legal issues quickly and effectively.
