Legal Assistant The candidate enhances attorneysâ€™ effectiveness by developing case information, evidence, and settlement options, tracking cases, and supporting attorneysâ€™ hearing proceedings. Supports multiple attorneys with the preparation of documents for the defense of workerâ€™s compensation and general liability cases. Keeps cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software. Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case; scheduling depositions; preparing and forwarding summonses and subpoenas; requesting medical records, filing discovery requests and various court pleadings. Enhances hearing preparations and trial proceedings by organizing evidence; preparing exhibits; scheduling witnesses; ensuring that witnesses are ready when needed. Transcribing dictation, scheduling depositions and IMEâ€™s, maintenance of files, and file aways. Maintains firm calendar and coordinates court appearances and out of town travel. Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Must have High school diploma or GED (or equivalent). Associates or Bachelorâ€™s degree is preferred. Paralegal certificate is a plus. Should have 3+ years of Administrative Assistant experience supporting corporate or legal office in and administrative capacity. Working knowledge of legal rules and procedures is needed. Microsoft Word experience is required; Excel and PowerPoint experience is preferred. Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and administrative skills is must. Excellent telephone, writing, and proofreading skills is essential.
