ProfileLegal Assistant The candidate will assist attorneys/paralegals in document production, page checking, and other projects as assigned. Will perform clerical tasks including, but not limited to, document numbering (Bates Stamping); alphabetizing documents, organizing documents in chronological order, indexing pleadings, file maintenance, etc. Organize and maintain documentation of large case management matters. Advise attorneys of status dates and changes. Monitor databases, coordinate document retrieval under the supervision of the supervising attorneys and paralegals. Assist in the preparation of documents for trial. Associate’s degree or equivalent; or 7+ years of related experience preferably in a large legal or professional services firm; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Legal research knowledge and ability to use law library is preferred. Computer proficient with experience and working knowledge of MS Word is required. Ability to work with complex, heavily formatted documents, and produce documents from transcription is needed. Working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, HotDocs, LegalKEY, Adobe Reader, and PowerPoint is preferred. Keyboarding skills of 65 wpm is preferred. Ability to learn and work independently in multiple software applications and databases is needed. Knowledge and understanding of Westlaw, other litigation databases, and Internet is needed. Knowledge of all court systems is needed. Excellent organizational skills including record keeping, data collection, and system information is needed. Ability to compile and analyze data and furnish information in report format, written correspondence, e-mail, or verbally. Analytical and technical skills requiring an aptitude for detail and accuracy in order to perform essential administrative/clerical functions and utilize Firm software is needed. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills are needed.
