Paralegal Specialist position available at the Department of Correction Legal Division in Boston, MA. This is a full-time Civil Service role with competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. The chosen candidate will provide litigation support services and assistance on special projects to the DOC General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and Office Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in entering, tracking, coordinating, and reporting litigation cases and referrals using various case tracking programs.
- Act as liaison and create and maintain updated litigation tracking charts and spreadsheets for executive offices and Attorney General's Office.
- Maintain litigation files, staff schedules, calendars, reimbursements, and related case tracking systems and spreadsheets.
- Prepare training guides for case tracking and other office software tools.
- Review, research, and analyze data, draft reports and other documents.
- Maintain confidentiality of all records and data.
- Able to learn and use DOC-specific databases and computer programs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with discovery of electronically stored information and electronic document management for major systems and other litigation.
- Experience with civil litigation matters at the trial and appellate levels.
Requirements:
- Minimum of two years of full-time experience in legal research or legal assistant work, or equivalent part-time experience.
- Associate's or higher degree in paralegal studies may be substituted for experience.
- Completion of one year of study at a recognized, degree-granting law school may be substituted for experience.
- Possession of a current and valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License may be required.
