ProfileSenior Paralegal - Marketing and Advertising Claims Substantiation The candidate will serve as an integral member of the legal department providing assistance and support on a broad range of legal matters affecting day-to-day business operations. Will provide legal support to the firm Legal team and the business in the form of document review, legal research, drafting of legal and business communications, and legal review of contracts, packaging, advertising, promotions, trademark matters and other business materials. Provide support for marketing, advertising and claims substantiation, product labeling, promotions, sweepstakes, social media, sales and antitrust issues. Oversee and assist with the development of claims databases and process improvement initiatives across all brand groups globally as needed. Support the advertising/artwork review process, sweepstakes and promotions clearance, new product development process by providing risk assessments, general legal counsel and training and tracking relevant legislative and regulatory developments. Review and approve marketing materials including, but not limited to, print advertising, coupons, sweepstake/contest rules, displays, digital and social media materials in accordance with EPC guidelines and legal and regulatory requirements on a global basis. Provide contracts support: review, analyze, draft, negotiate, execute and organize globally. Assist certain product lines with intellectual property, trademarks, copyrights, rights of publicity, licensing, brand protection, enforcement and anti-counterfeiting. Review and respond as appropriate to routine communications and requests from the EPC Legal team, business teams and outside counsel. Legal department budgeting to ensure that projects and work streams stay within established targets. Engage with outside Counsel and third-party stakeholders on substantive matters when required. Perform additional duties and handle other projects as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university. Should have 8 years relevant work experience as a paralegal or Senior Paralegal with an in-house legal team or law firm. Paralegal Certificate is preferred. Relevant work experience in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry is desired. Experience handling advertising and packaging review and approvals, including claim substantiation is required. Experience handling global (US and international) trademark and domain name matters is needed. Experience handling contest, sweepstakes and promotions and contracts is must. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly, MS Word, EXCEL, PowerPoint and SharePoint) and Adobe is essential.
