A law firm in Pasadena, CA, is seeking an experienced Estate and Tax Planning Attorney with over 5 years of advanced planning experience. The ideal candidate will have expertise in estate planning, probate, and trust administration, and will provide high-level legal services to clients in need of complex estate and tax planning strategies.

Duties:

  • Advise clients on estate and tax planning strategies, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
  • Draft and implement advanced estate planning documents, such as irrevocable trusts, grantor-retained annuity trusts (GRATs), and family limited partnerships (FLPs).
  • Assist clients in probate and trust administration, guiding executors, trustees, and beneficiaries through the process.
  • Manage all aspects of probate proceedings, including the filing of petitions, accounting, and distribution of assets.
  • Provide counsel on minimizing estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes.
  • Coordinate with financial advisors, accountants, and other professionals to ensure a holistic estate planning approach.
  • Handle disputes related to probate and trust administration, including contested wills and trust litigation.
  • Stay informed on changes in tax laws and regulations that may impact estate planning strategies.
  • Regularly communicate with clients to review and update their estate plans as needed.
  • Prepare federal and state estate and gift tax returns.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active member of the California State Bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estate and tax planning.
  • Advanced planning experience, including drafting complex trust and estate documents.
  • Proven experience in probate and trust administration, with the ability to handle the full administration process.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state tax laws related to estate planning.

Certifications:

  • Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust & Probate Law (preferred).
  • Tax LLM or CPA license (a plus, but not required).

  • In-depth understanding of estate planning, probate, and tax laws.
  • Exceptional drafting and legal writing skills for complex estate planning documents.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to address tax and legal issues.
