Paralegal, Trademark The candidate will support the Director and Managing Counsel, Trademarks, in all matters related to the Company’s worldwide trademark portfolio. Will be the primary contact on all trademark searches, use and maintenance activities and will advise teams to assure marks are represented appropriately on labels and advertising materials. Assist in educating clients regarding trademark clearance procedures and proper use; conduct preliminary trademark searches; maintain electronic search files. Manage relationships with foreign counsel with respect to international trademark filings and registration maintenance, including any oppositions, cancellation actions and enforcement matters as needed. Ensure that foreign counsel services are provided in a cost-effective manner. Review and process invoices from foreign counsel. Manage trademark watching services and identify and evaluate marks of concern; assist with opposition and litigation matters as needed. Prepare and file U.S. trademark applications, maintenance filings, office action responses, affidavits of use, renewal applications and other USPTO filings. Communicate with clients on status of trademark filings. Educate clients on obtaining acceptable evidence of use to obtain and maintain trademark registrations. Conduct due diligence in connection with business acquisitions; prepare and file assignments in connection with business acquisitions and divestitures. Maintain trademark docket and files; manage relationships with trademark service vendors; review and process invoices from trademark service vendors. Assist in product label and advertising review and revision for proper use of trademarks and other label elements. Provide Administrative Support for the Marketing, Advertising and Promotion and Label Review teams within the Legal Department.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have High School Diploma required. Paralegal Certificate or bachelor’s degree preferred. Significant experience maintaining a corporate trademark portfolio required. Experience in food or CPG industries preferred. Must have knowledge of web-based docketing systems and trademark searching platforms. Must have strong investigative and trademark research and analytic skills.
