Assistant County Attorney - Civil Duties : Responsible for providing legal services in support of county government operations and for assisting in directing the operations of the county legal department. Responsible for providing support to all activities of the office, to varying degrees, while also assuming primary responsibility in specific areas. Responding to requests for public information. Advising elected officials and county department heads on matters relating to employment issues and county business. Llitigating on behalf of Fayette County and its elected officials, and supporting outside counsel in those efforts. Reviewing and preparing contracts. Reviewing and assessing purchasing issues. Attending Commissionerâ€™s Court meetings and providing legal advice to the commissioners and all other elected officials. Recommending or drafting county policies to reflect expressed goals of commissioners or elected officials, identifying and minimizing potential legal risks. Providing advice on civil enforcement actions, review and update civil enforcement regulations as become necessary. Providing occasional, spot relief to the officeâ€™s CPS attorney and juvenile prosecutor. Performs other related duties of the office.
Qualification and Experience
Qualification: The candidate must be Graduate of an accredited law school, currently licensed to practice law in the State of Texas and in good standing with the State Bar. Must be able to conduct self in a professional manner and develop and maintain good working relationships with visitors, co-workers, attorneys, commissioners, judges, county officials and department heads.
