Legal Secretary/ Receptionist The candidate will generally perform the duties of a legal secretary and receptionist, including: taking complete and accurate telephone messages, open, sorts and distributing mail, maintaining initial client files and take and transcribe dictation, including letters, legal pleadings, briefs, decrees and memoranda of law. Complete intakes and assist clients through the intake process and make eligibility determinations, screens call, makes appropriate referrals to other agencies or authorities, and give non-legal, non-technical information where appropriate.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Education equivalent to completion of the twelfth school grade. Community college and/or technical school degrees are preferred. Should preferably have 1+ year of related experience in clerical, typing, stenographic or secretarial work preferred. Prior contact or experience with low-income persons is desired. Good knowledge of the English language, usage and grammar is needed. General computer skills are required. This includes the ability to use all Microsoft Office products and LegalServer is must. Some knowledge of courts and social agencies is essential. Skills in typing accurately from rough draft or plain copy or dictation at a reasonable rate of speed is required.
