A prominent law firm is seeking an experienced ERISA/Employee Benefits Partner to join its Employment and Labor Practice in Chicago, IL. Duties

  • Lead the design, implementation, and administration of employee benefit plans and executive compensation arrangements
  • Advise on health and welfare benefits, including structuring and compliance for self-funded and fully insured plans, IRC §125 cafeteria plans, VEBAs, and other consumer-driven plans (FSAs, HRAs, HSAs)
  • Provide counsel on regulatory compliance with ERISA, IRC, HIPAA, PPACA, FMLA, and COBRA
  • Draft, review, and negotiate benefit plan documents, policies, and contracts
  • Collaborate with Employment and Labor team members to provide integrated client support in benefits management and risk mitigation
  • Support business development and client relationship-building (a portable book of business is advantageous but not required)

Requirements

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in ERISA and employee benefits law
  • Proficiency in health and welfare benefits structuring and compliance
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and regulatory analysis skills

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Licensed Attorney in good standing in Michigan or Illinois, or eligible for admission by examination or waiver
