Litigation - General (consumer)

Paralegal The candidate will assist with every phase of litigation to meet the needs of high volume and complex litigation. Will assist Chief Council Civil Litigation (CCL) section with litigation responsibilities, including providing assistance to attorneys and handling administrative claims brought pursuant to the Federal Tort Claims Act. Assist with claims intake, document collection, and discovery. Discuss claims with claimants, prepare correspondence, manage and organize documents, prepare and label exhibits. Coordinate with divisions to secure documents, and assist with discovery, including redacting documents for privilege and assisting in the preparation of discovery responses, conduct legal research, and assist with hearings before administrative bodies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Merit Systems Protection Board. Assist with hearings to defend against individual claims. Handle a diverse and heavy work load and work cooperatively and efficiently with attorneys and support staff. Provide other legal support as necessary and as assigned by the Associate Chief Counsel of DEAs Office of Chief Counsel Civil Litigation Section (CCL).
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Undergraduate degree from an accredited U.S. college or university. Should have Paralegal certificate and 1+ year of paralegal experience. Proficiency with legal applications, such as Westlaw, etc is required.
