Qualification and Experience
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS This is an exciting position for a passionate and experienced attorney with a commitment to working in the nonprofit sector and an interest in joining a dynamic mission-driven organization. Substantively, the position requires an attorney who is a strong generalist and has familiarity with campaign finance and/or non-profit taxation or has the capacity to gain familiarity quickly. Depth of experience in the other legal areas of responsibility listed below is also highly desirable. • Campaign Finance • Nonprofit Tax Law • Employment Law • Labor Law/ Unions • Product • Data Privacy In terms of approach, the ideal candidate will be a strong collaborator and able to offer actionable legal counsel to non-lawyers in a variety of disciplines, collaborating with others to devise and implement creative legal solutions in a complex setting. Additional qualities include: • 15+ years of generalist legal experience, with a strong understanding of campaign finance and/or nonprofit law. • A keen understanding of Democratic electoral politics and/or technology/products. • Excellent skills in collaborating and advising across divisions, functions, and geography. • Demonstrated commitment and champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion. • Strong people management skills and ability to promote a nurturing and inclusive working environment. • Intellectual curiosity and the ability to make decisions with deliberation and creativity. • Ability to manage the short-term dynamics that require rapid response, while advising on longer term strategy and risk. • Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; the ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations.
