DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

This is an exciting position for a passionate and experienced attorney with a commitment to working in the nonprofit sector and an interest in joining a dynamic mission-driven organization. Substantively, the position requires an attorney who is a strong generalist and has familiarity with campaign finance and/or non-profit taxation or has the capacity to gain familiarity quickly. Depth of experience in the other legal areas of responsibility listed below is also highly desirable.

In terms of approach, the ideal candidate will be a strong collaborator and able to offer actionable legal counsel to non-lawyers in a variety of disciplines, collaborating with others to devise and implement creative legal solutions in a complex setting. Additional qualities include:

• 15+ years of generalist legal experience, with a strong understanding of campaign finance and/or nonprofit law.

• A keen understanding of Democratic electoral politics and/or technology/products.

• Excellent skills in collaborating and advising across divisions, functions, and geography.

• Demonstrated commitment and champion for diversity, equity, and inclusion.

• Strong people management skills and ability to promote a nurturing and inclusive working environment.

• Intellectual curiosity and the ability to make decisions with deliberation and creativity.

• Ability to manage the short-term dynamics that require rapid response, while advising on longer term strategy and risk.

• Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty; the ability to adapt nimbly and lead others through complex situations.

EDUCATION

The General Counsel should possess an LLB or JD from an accredited law school.
