Consultant, Legal Services Strategy, Management, and Business Development The candidate will advise on the strategy in Northern California and support business development efforts to launch a new legal services management structure in NorCal offices. Will work closely with the Asylum and Immigration Legal Services Unit, based at the headquarters, as well as NorCal's senior program manager for immigration legal services and regional leadership. Add strategic knowledge and insight on the management and sustainability of legal services, with key lines of inquiry including internal stakeholders, including the current team of DOJ accredited representatives and attorneys, regional stakeholders, key funding streams, strategic partnership opportunities, service gaps, and best practices in the management of legal programs. Make recommendations for the management structure of NorCal's immigration legal services program, including with respect to the region and with respect to each office. Include considerations of social services programs and initiatives serving asylum seekers and the immigrant community where there are legal needs, such as the Sacramento welcome center project or anti-trafficking programs, for example. Create a business development strategy, including identification of key funding opportunities and strategic partnerships. Include consideration of the committee's fee-for-service model and develop recommendations related to pricing, competitiveness, and how this model fits into a broader sustainability plan. Equally consider resourcing opportunities for the committee's longstanding community-based practice providing representation in USCIS applications and the committee's newly launched removal defense program. Develop at least two concept notes and/or funding proposals over the course of the consultancy in consultations with the NorCal immigration team and Development Director. An overall strategy for NorCal immigration legal services, including an assessment of gaps in services, and high-level recommendations that help define the unique contributions of the committee in this space as service provider, advocate and thought leader, including striking the right balance between service provision and coalition work, with well-defined ideas positioned in a multi-year approach. The strategy should incorporate the above recommendations on management and business development. Law degree is required. Should preferably have 7-10 years of progressive experience managing legal services programs in the US. Business development experience in legal services space is required. In-depth knowledge of best practices in legal services management and supervision is needed. Experience working with legal services programs in a multi-disciplinary setting is highly desirable. Established relationships in the legal services space in northern California are assets. Knowledge of the California Immigrant Justice Fellowship highly desirable. Demonstrated success in consulting with nonprofits and/or project management is ideal. Practical experience in providing thought leadership, analytical thinking, and translating ideas into long- and short-term organizational strategy is a plus.
