Charlotte office of our client seeks tax attorney with 4+ years of experience. The candidate will provide legal advice and support on a wide range of federal and state tax matters. Will manage multiple tax controversy matters in a fast-paced environment. Create tax plans and strategies for individuals and businesses on various federal, state, local and foreign tax related issues concerning income, estate, excise, property and gift tax along with advising on the same. Investigate legal cases for a specific area of business law and conceptualize probable legal issues and comprehend the effect of rules, regulations and case law. Provide legal counsel to clients on issues associated with the revenue authorities by negotiating on client’s behalf and offering counsel to clients regularly to keep them aware of the kinds of tax problems that may arise in the future. Maintain excellent communication and negotiation skills with all law firm personnel as well as officials within the Internal Revenue Service, public accountants and other related firms. Handle evaluation, risk assessment and counseling on various complicated tax problems. Execute project related tax research and analysis based on Federal and State tax laws. Undertake tax basis calculations and other related tax studies. Counsel the client on the consequences of new and updated federal and state tax laws that affect the client’s business; and maintain the tax records and keep up with all filing deadlines related to tax matters for the client. Must be admitted to practice law in North Carolina. Should be member in good standing with the North Carolina Bar. Must have substantial financial/accounting experience (CPA, LL.M. degree and/or Master’s in Tax). Should have experience in the field of US tax planning, litigation and/or controversy issues, either through publishing, speaking or prior employment.
